MEET HENNESSEY

Hennessey, one of our outstanding students, consistently demonstrates a positive attitude and arrives each day ready and eager to tackle her tasks. She is not only diligent in her work, but Hennessey expresses her creativity in remarkable ways. Henny has overcome personal barriers and constantly reminds the Spectrum staff of the role we played in her growth as an individual. She emphasizes that our organization provides a safe and inclusive work environment where she and her peers can freely express themselves. Hennessey’s transformation is evident, as she has evolved from being a shy individual to someone who is now willing to take risks and step outside of her comfort zone. This year she achieved a notable milestone by securing a significant role as Annie in a school play. Moreover, Henny's kindness, generosity, and amiable nature make her easy to get along with, and her radiant smile brightens the workplace.

Our organization’s philosophy is to use a mixture of identity-first (for example ‘autistic person’) and person-first (for example ‘person with autism’) language, to reflect the diversity of preferences in the autism community.
